Dublin supermarkets offering elderly and priority hours

Dublin supermarkets continue to make things safe for people during the outbreak of Covid-19 and one of the initiatives being introduced is elderly and priority hours for those who are most vulnerable.

Social distancing is one of the most important things at the moment but we still need to be able to access supermarkets for essentials like food. But in order to ensure the safety of the most vulnerable, supermarkets now have dedicated shopping hours to those over the age of 65, family carers and some offering dedicated hours to those who work in the HSE and emergency services.

Here is a list of priority hours in different supermarkets for anyone who needs to access them.

Dunnes Stores – 11am – 1pm daily

Dunnes Stores shopping hours for the elderly or customers who are vulnerable is between 11am – 1pm daily. People with children are asked to avoid their stores during these times and shop at other times of the day.

Aldi – 11am – 1pm daily

Aldi ask customers to consider this measure when planning their shopping trip. Elderly Shopping hours is now 11am – 1pm daily.

Lidl – 9am – 11am

Lidl stores implemented priority shopping hours for the elderly across all 163 stores in Ireland from 9am – 11am until further notice

SuperValu 

As some SuperValu stores are indivudually owned and operated there are various times for these. For Dublin’s City Centre there is SuperValu Talbot Street who have dedicated staff from 7.30am – 9am daily to assist elderly find their products and SuperValu Heuston South Quarter cater for the elderly and those with special needs in the community from 9am – 11am every day

Tesco – Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings up to 9am

The dedicated time for over 65s and family carers in Tesco stores across the city and nation is Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings up to 9am

Marks and Spencer Ireland – first hour of trading on certain days

The M&S team have set aside the first hour of trading on certain days for their older and vulnerable customers, and for the amazing HSE and emergency workers. Mondays and Thursdays are for older and vulnerable customers and Tuesdays and Fridays are for HSE and emergency workers. Visit marksandspencer.ie to find out the opening hours of your local store
