Who doesn’t love a good donut? Thanks to this new donut craze, we no longer have to cross the seas to get our hands on some superb gourmet donuts. With loads of new trendy donut places popping up all over Dublin we decided to compile a list of the best donut joints for you to try out! #NOM
The Rolling Donut is an Irish owned business set up by Michael Quinlan in 1978. What started off as a small doughnut kiosk on O’Connell Street selling original ring doughnuts, now expands to a gourmet doughnut bakery on one of Dublin’s busiest streets, Bachelors Walk and South King St. Now run by Michael’s two daughters, Lisa and Aimee, the Quinlan team are committed to producing the most delicious, fresh doughnuts. All of the doughnuts are made fresh in the bakery daily using only fresh and locally sourced ingredients.
With over 13 varieties of doughnuts to choose from, there is bound to be something for everyone on the menu. Some of the options available include ‘Nutella and Marshmallow’, ‘Hipsters Paradise’, ‘Coffee Lover’ ‘Vanilla Glaze’ ‘Baileys Bliss’ and many more. The pictures speak for themselves!
With two stores, one located on Aungier Street and South Great George’s St is a strong contender for the best doughnut joint in Dublin. Aungier Danger is for the early birds of Dublin, opening from 7.30am during the week and 10am on the weekends. The store stays open until all doughnuts are sold out.
Their brand new store in Arnotts makes for the ideal spot for a sugar boost after a long day of shopping. Check out their Instagram for some serious food porn. Their extensive menu includes – the ‘Crime Scene’, the ‘Banoffee Autopsy’, the ‘Assaulted Caramel’, and the ‘Marshamallow Oreo’ just to name a few!
Making fresh, classic and some more unusual donuts to those who craze a sugar rush, Boston Donuts work to deliver the most delicious handcrafted donuts in the country. Flavours like After Eight, Vanilla Glazed, Nutella Ring and The Chocoholic mean there is something for everyone in the office, family home or wherever you decide to eat them. Locations include Liffey Street Lower and Trinity St
Another great pick on South Great is Krust Bakery, the worlds first smart bakery/café. Although Krust Bakery offer a range of different types of baked goods, their doughnuts are hard to beat! Open from 7.30am-7.30pm on weekdays and 10am- 7.30pm on the weekends, Krust Bakery is the place to go if your looking for a quick sugar rush. If you want to try something a bit different, go wild and try a cronut!
The Woollen Mills located on Lower Ormand Quay is heaven to food lovers of all kinds. This great eatery is a must for those looking to sample some of the best, most unique doughnuts Dublin can offer. Some of their unbelievable flavours include, maple syrup flavour, orange meringue, oreo delight, rhubarb and custard, AND… wait for it, a hot whiskey doughnut.
The iconic building in Dublins City Centre over looking over the Ha’penny Bridge makes for a great people watching spot.
VICE is a specialty coffee bar located inside Wigwam on Middle Abbey Street. As well as unbelievable coffee, VICE is also home to some great doughnuts. Supplied by the amazing Dublin Doughnut Company, VICE get doughnuts delivered every Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 11am.
Flavours vary from week to week so you can be sure you’ll always be offered something different. These delicious doughnuts normally sell out by lunchtime so we advise you get down early to avoid disappointment!
