6 Top Things to do in Dublin on a Sunny Day

Updated 19th April 2018:

things to do in the sunshine

Inspired by the epic weather on Saturday we decided to create a list of our top things to do in Dublin while the sun is shining.

Number One:

kayaking
Kayaking on the Liffey

The Ideal way to make the most of the sunny weather while fitting in some culture at the same time. City Kayaking runs 2-hour city river trips launching from their base point at Dublin City Moorings up the River Liffey and through the heart of the city under some of Dublin’s most famous bridges and past many famous landmarks. Prices starting from €25 for the 2-hour daytime trip.

Number Two:

stephens

Picnic in St. Stephen’s Green

Why not soak up the great atmosphere in St. Stephen’s Green with a picnic. You and your family can catch some rays while munching on delicious takeaway picnic packages from Dublin’s favourite restaurants such as Fallon & Byrne or Carluccio’s. If you are on a budget grab a salad box from KC Peaches and enjoy the pretty scenery.

Number Three:

Things To Do With Your Kids In Town

Viking Splash Tour

Cool down and embark on an exciting adventure on the Viking Splash Tour. The Viking Splash Tour is fun and educational making it ideal for the whole family allowing you to explore Dublin’s City Centre by land and water. Avoid queues by booking online early – these tours are very popular and tend to sell out. Prices range from €12-€22 per person.

Number Four:

The Church image 3

Explore Dublin’s Beer Gardens

Despite Ireland’s rainy reputation, the city centre is home to many beautiful beer gardens, why not spend the afternoon exploring some of them. Enjoy great food in the sun at The Church Café, Bar & Restaurant who have an outdoor barbecue (if you book in advance) in their beer garden. For an afternoon of people watching sip on a cold drink in the Dame District. From hipster hangouts such as the Pygmalion to more glamorous locations such as Farrier & Draper, Dublin has it all.

Number Five:

trinity

A Stroll around Trinity College

The grounds of Trinity College come alive again in summer when the sun is out. Explore the beautiful gardens and observe the magnificent architecture without the hustle and bustle experienced during the college year. Cool down with a drink on the grass at the Pavilion bar or get some shade visiting the Book of Kells.

Number Six:

ice-cream

Grab an ice-cream

We don’t get many days in Ireland where it is warm enough to walk around with an ice-cream without freezing ourselves which means we should make the most of it while the sun is out. Dublin has recently upped its ice-cream game majorly. Try out some of our favourite ice-cream parlours such as Gino’s Gelato or Murphy’s Ice Cream. Even get in on the froyo craze and try out Pog or Yogism.
