My Perfect Day in Dublin

Aisling Sullivan, Cathach Books, Duke Street

We deal in anitquarian books of Irish interest, first editions by Irish authors and so on. The name Cathach actually comes from the battle book of Colmcille. I like starting off the day with breakfast in Gibson’s of Wicklow Street. It’s a beautiful little French cafe and when you’re there you feel like you’re sitting in the middle of Paris. It’s got beautiful fresh food, lovely coffee and French music in the background. After that I might visit the National Library and view their Yeats exhibition. It’s so quiet and there’s a great atmosphere, that could take an hour and a half to two hours if you took your time. It’s been on for about two years and hopefully it’s going to be a permanent fixture there. There’s a real low light and they’ve replicated his study and they have famous Irish writers and singers reading his poetry in the background. I always love going into Hodges Figgis. It’s got a really good Irish section in there and the staff are really knowledgeable too. If i was going for a drink, i might go in next door to the Duke Pub or Davy Byrnes. And if it was a special occasion I might go to Marco Pierre White’s for dinner, it’s got a lovely atmosphere and great service.
